Warren Central sweeps Canton on Senior Night
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Warren Central swept Senior Night with dominant performances from both the girls and boys soccer teams, earning shutout victories over Canton on Dec. 19.
The Warren Central Lady Vikes rolled to a 13-0 win behind a balanced scoring attack and a milestone night from Jordan Polk, who surpassed 100 career goals during the match.
Allie Mason opened the scoring in the first half with an assist from Addi Mullen. Brooke Steed followed with a goal before Polk found the net twice, both assisted by Mary Clell Allred. Polk later added another goal off an assist from Mason and finished the night with four total goals.
Steed scored twice more, while Mullen added a goal with an assist from Polk. Additional first-half goals came from Polk (assist Emily Godshaw), Kennedy Smith, Miranda Sanchez (assist Polk), and Avery Hearn (assist Godshaw). Olivia Lee capped the scoring in the second half.
The Warren Central boys team completed the sweep with a 7-0 victory. The defense limited Canton to just three shots on goal, preserving the clean sheet.
Luke Bond led the offense with a hat trick, scoring three goals on six shots on goal. Jacob Porter also netted three goals, while Nick Lee added one. Goalkeeper Mahamed Shuaibi recorded one save.
Both wins provided a strong finish to Senior Night and sent Warren Central into the break on a high note.
