Warren County Sheriff’s office hosts drug take-back this Saturday

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Warren County Sheriff’s Office will once again participate in the DEA’s annual Drug Take Back event, held this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Outlets at Vicksburg.
The department has participated in the DEA’s drug take-back initiative since its inception in 2010.
“Warren County Sheriff’s investigators will be onsite at the outlets at Vicksburg to receive unused medication of any type, with the only exception being “No sharps.” I.E. hypodermic needles,” said Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.
The Sheriff also added that all items turned in will be packaged and turned over to the DEA where they will be destroyed in an eco-friendly incinerator.
“Research shows that for many young people who’s first experience with pills, especially narcotics, comes from inside the home,” said Pace. “Any type of medication that is out of date, or no longer used, we encourage you to bring it out here, no questions asked. Drop it in a container and drive off.”
