Warren Central High School baseball team came up short last night in a 7-3 loss to Saltillo.

A double by Maddox Lynch tied the game at 1-1 in the first inning but Saltillo picked up two runs in the second to take the lead. Lynch hit a triple in the second and Cade Fairley sacrificed that brought in a couple of extra runs for WC.

The Vikings put up a good fight as Ryan Nelson and Lynch both smashed two hits but it wasn’t enough to overcome Saltillo. Lester Martin and Talan Patel both had a hit as well. Conner Watkins struck out three batters while Ryan Steed and Nathaniel Moore both struck out one.

WC will travel to face Saltillo in game two on Saturday at 7 p.m.
