WC opened district play with wins over VHS

Vicksburg, Miss.-Warren Central High School soccer team finished Tuesday night with district wins over rival Vicksburg High School.

“The win feels really good because Vicksburg is always a huge rivalry so it always feels good to win,” Jordan Polk said. “Playing Vicksburg definitely kept us motivated to stay on top because it’s such a big deal between us and VHS.”

Evella Fairley scored the first goal in the win early in the win. By halftime, the Lady Vikes went up 2-0. By the end of the game, Jordan Polk(1 assist), Allie Mason(1 assist), and Addi Mullen all scored for WC while Kennedy Mullins scored the lone goal for VHS. Melissa Herrle also had an assist for WC in the win.

The match was competitive until the very end as WC improved to 9-3 and VHS is now 7-3.

Boys:

The Vikings shutout VHS 7-0 in last night’s district opener.

Jacob Porter got WC on the board first within the first few minutes of the game. Porter would finish with two goals in the win as well as Duke Esparza he brought in two goals. Luke Bond, Jackson Holden and Nick Lee all scored one goal as WC improved 9-1-1 on the year.
