Vicksburg, Miss.-Warren Central High School baseball team picked up a weekend victory over D’lberville on Saturday as they came out with an 11-6 win. Yesterday’s victory marked the true season opener since Friday’s game against Hartfield was cut short due to weather.

The Warriors got on the board first from a double in the opening inning but WC tied things at 1-1 after Tristan Jamison singled which brought in their first run. The Vikings added six runs in the second inning after Charlie Roberts and Hayes Loper hit 2-run singles just before Trace Hood hit a 2-run home run to put WC up 7-1.

No one got on the board again until the fifth inning when Jamison hit a 2-run single to put the score at 9-1. C. West hit a grand slam for the Warriors in the sixth but Loper’s triple and Lester Martin’s single put the game away for the Vikings as they finished with the 11-6 win.

Martin went 3 for 4 at the plate with one RBI while Jamison and Loper had two hits and three RBIs. Hood and Robert both had one hit and two RBIs while Hayden Blok and Ryan Steed both brought in one hit.

Caden Cole pitched for four innings and struck out seven batters. Justin Greer struck out five and Beau Bradley struck out one.

WC will play three games next weekend. On Friday, they will face Hillcrest. On Saturday, they will play against Faith Academy at 10 a.m., and they will play against Germantown at 4 p.m.
