JACKSON, MS – A child sustained head injuries after his mother was held at gunpoint and robbed at Jayne Avenue Park on Saturday.

Jackson Police said on Sunday that a three-year-old child and his mother were playing at the park when two people approached the family.

JPD stated that the suspects held the victims at gunpoint and demanded belongings. The suspects then stole their vehicle, hitting the child in the process.

The child sustained head injuries but was responsive at the scene, according to JPD. They were taken to a local hospital. Deputy Chief of Investigation Sequerna Banks says the 3-year-old is expected to make a full recovery.

The suspects were driving a black four-door vehicle believed to be a Chrysler 200.
