Riley, Davis Named Captain and Co-Captain of the Vikettes Dance Team; Bell Takes Over as Head Coach
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN)—Zamiya Riley and Tiara Davis have been named captain and co-captain of the Warren Central High School Vikettes dance team. Jade Bell will also take over as head coach for the upcoming season.
The Vikettes are part of the Big Blue Marching Band and perform both in the stands and on the field during football games.
Zamiya Riley
Riley is entering her second year as captain and is ready to begin her junior year with renewed energy.
“I feel great about being the captain, and this was very deserving because I worked hard for it,” Riley said.
As head captain, she is responsible for creating choreography, keeping the team organized, and ensuring everyone is in the correct place and fulfilling their role. She said she takes pride in how the team bond has strengthened under her leadership.
“We’re very comfortable with each other, and our bond is still growing—it gets closer every day,” she said.
Riley is a junior at River City Early College and the daughter of Portia Thompson and George Riley.
Tiara Davis
Davis is entering her first season as co-captain and said she was surprised to receive the leadership role.
“I was shocked because I never thought I would be co-captain,” Davis said.
She will assist Riley with leadership duties and step in to lead if Riley is absent. Davis said her goal is to maintain and strengthen the team’s unity.
“My overall goal is just to keep the team close because we have a great bond ever since the first practice,” she said.
Davis is also a junior at River City Early College and the daughter of Terrell and Tanisha Davis.
Head Coach Jade Bell
Bell has assisted the Vikettes for the past three years and is now entering her first season as head coach.
“I love it,” Bell said. “I’m excited, and working with these girls has been a pleasure. I love to see them grow.”
Bell is a former Gator Girl and 2018 graduate of Vicksburg High School. She also danced as a Gatorette in junior high under Kimberley Yates.
Although this is her first year leading the program, Bell said she is already setting new goals and redefining the team’s direction.
“Whatever we have done in the past is gone,” she said. “We’re changing the Vikettes, but it will still be the style everyone wants to see—just classy.”
Bell praised the team’s leadership and said she is eager to begin her inaugural season.
The football season begins in August, and the Vikettes will soon be dancing to the sounds of the Big Blue Marching Band.
