Hogan Named Ninth Grade Cheer Coach at Vicksburg High
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN)—Tammye Kline Hogan has been named the new ninth grade head cheerleading coach at Vicksburg High School.
“I’m excited, and it’s something I always wanted to do, so when I was presented with the opportunity, I took it,” Hogan said.
Hogan is no stranger to cheerleading. A 1991 graduate of Vicksburg High, she was a member of the VHS cheer team and cheered from seventh through 12th grade.
Although this is her first season as head coach, Hogan said she already has a plan for her squad.
“I’m looking forward to creating a bond with my girls and showing them what teamwork and dedication does,” she said. “We have a small team, but it doesn’t matter about the size—it’s about the work, dedication, and effort you put in as a team.”
Hogan said her team recently attended a cheer camp led by Kolby Rogers, where they saw major improvements.
In addition to her coaching duties, Hogan is a teacher at Vicksburg High School and has worked in education for more than 20 years.
“I want to say thank you to Mr. James Lewis for giving me the opportunity and believing that I’m a good fit for this role,” she said.
Hogan and the freshman cheer team will appear at Meet the Gators on Aug. 21.
