ECCC Welcomes Landon Rutland as Director of Creative Content and Sports Information
DECATUR, Miss. (ECC Athletics) — East Central Community College is excited to announce the addition of Landon Rutland of Brandon to the Office of External Relations as the college’s new Director of Creative Content and Sports Information.
Rutland comes to ECCC with a strong background in sports media, creative content production, and athletic communications.
He previously worked as the Student Football Creative Director for Mississippi College Athletics, where he captured high-quality photography and videography, produced social media content, designed gameday and score graphics, and coordinated creative campaigns that boosted online engagement by 10%. His role also included managing a team of student creatives and producing marketing materials to promote new team branding and apparel.
Rutland’s creative experience extends beyond the collegiate level. He spent a summer as the Black Box Day Camp Manager at Sky Ranch Camps in Texas, overseeing more than 100 counselors daily and serving as the lead photographer and videographer for camp marketing. He also handled logistics, team management, and media distribution to promote the camp’s programs.
A graduate of Hinds Community College with an Associate of Arts in General Studies, Rutland earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports Media Communications from Mississippi College in May 2025.
“We are thrilled to welcome Landon to East Central,” said Lucas Calvert, Vice President for External Relations. “His creativity, technical skills, and passion for sports storytelling and promotion will be instrumental in showcasing our student-athletes and strengthening ECCC Athletics’ visibility across the state and region.”
Rutland officially began his role at ECCC in August 2025.
