St. Aloysius soccer defeats Greenville St. Joe 2-0
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The St. Aloysius boys’ soccer team earned a shutout victory Friday night, defeating Greenville St. Joe 2-0 in a strong all-around performance.
Goalkeeper Holden Davidson played a key role in the win, recording five saves to preserve the clean sheet. Davidson also provided steady leadership from the back and was named Player of the Match after contributing on both ends of the field, including taking a corner kick before quickly recovering to defend the goal.
The Flashes struck first when Cole Butler found the net off a well-placed ball from Jack Dickerson. Dickerson later added a goal of his own to give St. Aloysius a two-goal cushion, with Mason Bourne earning the assist.
St. Aloysius’ defense limited scoring chances throughout the match, led by Sam Ashley, Luke Pierce, James Tate and Brandon Babb along the back line. The midfield also played a crucial role, with strong efforts from Davis Burroughs, Mason Bourne and Carter Smithhart.
“It was a team effort that made the win possible,” head coach Gio Baldizon said.
The Flashes will look to carry the momentum into the remainder of their schedule as the holiday break approaches.
