Lady Flashes defeated Christ Covenant 36-21
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — St. Aloysius’ girls’ basketball team earned a home victory Tuesday night, while the boys’ team took a loss to Christ Covenant.
The Lady Flashes opened the evening with a 36-21 win, setting the tone early with a strong first quarter. St. Aloysius jumped out to a 10-5 lead after one period and continued to build momentum defensively, taking an 18-11 advantage into halftime.
St. Aloysius pulled away in the second half behind balanced scoring and consistent defensive pressure. Kelci Bingham led the Lady Flashes with 10 points, providing a steady presence on offense. Anslee Averett followed with eight points, while Megan Theriot and Taryn Lusby each contributed seven. Mallory Hobson added three points, and Kennadi Blassingame and Farrell Roberson each chipped in a free throw to round out the scoring. The Lady Flashes limited Christ Covenant’s scoring opportunities throughout the second half to secure the win.
In the boys’ contest, St. Aloysius suffered a 68-30 loss to Christ Covenant. Carson Gleese led the Flashes with 10 points, while Garrod Bunch added seven. Walt Andrews and Carson Henderson scored four points each. Sadler Lambiotte, Grant Gattle and Tre Lee each finished with two points in the loss.
