Reeves announces run for school board
Last updated:
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Tim Reeves has announced his run for the District 3 position on the Vicksburg Warren School Board of Trustees. The position is currently held by Jim Stirgus, who is also seeking reelection.
“This community has been an absolute blessing to my family and me, as have the schools my children have attended,” said Reeves. “Someone asked why I wanted to do this and my answer has been ‘why not.’ For me, it’s personal, I have children in the district, and I believe their best interests are worth representation on the board and worth fighting for.”
Tim Reeves, the former editor and publisher of the Vicksburg Post, currently works at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center. His role at ERDC is as a technology transfer specialist with ERDC’s Office of Research and Technology Transfer.
Tim and his wife, Stephanie, have three children; Sarah Cameron Fancher, Clayton and Fin Reeves. Clayton and Fin are currently students at the Academy of Innovation. Sarah Cameron is beginning her senior year at Mississippi State University, majoring in kinesiology. Sarah Cameron is a 2024 graduate of River City Early College, and five-year letterman with WCHS’ softball program.
The family are members of First Baptist Church Vicksburg, and Tim is a past president of the United Way of West Central Mississippi.
Tim is the son of two long-time public school teachers, and has been a long supporter of public education, specifically the Vicksburg Warren School District since the family moved to Vicksburg in 2014.
Tim spent nearly 25 years in the newspaper industry before joining the team at ERDC in May 2021.
