VICKSBURG, MS. – The Roof at 1311 will honor local musician, Donald ‘Butch’ Bowman Nasif, in a celebration of life at tonight’s bi-weekly jam. The jam, held every other Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., is a place for local musicians to come together to play as well as be inspired by each other.

“Butch had a unique gift for bringing people together through music, and his performances were as much about the camaraderie and joy of gathering as they were about the songs themselves. Everyone loved Butch, and Butch loved everyone. He leaves behind a legacy of music, laughter, and deep, enduring friendships” – Butch Nasif’s Obituary, Fisher Riles.

The Rooftop Jam, as well as the Watermark Blues Jam, are part of a continued legacy started by Butch Nasif who led the Biscuits and Jam at the Biscuit Company since it’s beginnings on May 5, 1999. Nasif, alongside fellow Biscuits and Jam veteran, Clint Barella, played their last jam at the Biscuit Company this year on April 17, before the business closed its doors on Saturday, April 20. Nasif passed away on August 16.

“Butch had a deep passion for music, and it’s only fitting that we honor his memory at a jam session, surrounded by music and friends. We invite all those who knew and loved Butch to join us for an evening of remembrance, music, and sharing stories,” said Carrie Nasif Osteen in a Facebook announcement, “We look forward to sharing this evening with you as we remember our dad’s life and legacy.”
