Alderman Mayfield told the Vicksburg Daily News that different organizations will be there to help register people to vote as well as discussing the. civic engagement process.

“I think its an engaging way to get people out to talk about the civic engagement process. Regardless of who you’re going to vote for, we want people to register to vote. It’s something that I don’t think a lot of people take serious,” said Alderman Mayfield, “Of course, we have a presidential election coming up, but we want to encourage people to vote in every election and hold people accountable. This is just a way to get people out and introduce them to topics and different conversations, while having a good time. Politics doesn’t always have to be nasty, but we want people to be engaged and hold people accountable.”

The Alcorn Homecoming Block Party is free and open to the Public. Gordon’s Alley is located at 1398 Washington St.
