Charges dropped against WCHS teen accused of rape

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Warren County District Attorney’s Office found insufficient evidence to prosecute a teen accused of rape from a 2025 case occurring at Warren Central High School.

In February of 2025, a then 14-year old was charged with rape after an incident which occurred at WCHS.

According to records, the school district’s campus police called the Warren County Sheriff’s Office to report a sexual assault had occurred on the campus of the high school in an unoccupied classroom. Investigators from WCSO, the District Attorney’s Office, and campus police reviewed security footage from the building and identified the 14-year old suspect.

In the state of Mississippi, a 14-year old can be charged as an adult; however, a July 2026 grand jury found there was insufficient evidence to prosecute the teen.

District Attorney Ricky Smith confirmed after gathering additional evidence and further examination of the case, the charges were dropped.

Attorney Jerry Campbell headed the defense for the now vindicated teen.
