VPD nets one in connection to June shooting
The Vicksburg Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a shooting which occurred on June 10, 2026.
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a shooting which occurred on June 10, 2026, at the Parkwood South Apartments in the 500 block of Bazinsky Road.
Following an investigation, investigators arrested Jamoni Odoms, 22, of Vicksburg, on June 30, in connection with the incident.
Odom was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon-firearm and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
VDN initially reported on the incident with a press release from the department. According to the release police officers responded in reference to a shooting incident at the apartment complex around 1:30 a.m.
After arriving on scene, officers learned an exchange of gunfire involving multiple individuals had occurred. Reports indicate an adult female sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to a local medical facility for treatment. It is believed her injury is non-life-threatening.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests or charges may be forthcoming as investigators continue to gather evidence.
