In the press release, VPD stated the department will charge Julian Childress, 50, of Lamar County, with felony fleeing following a pursuit Friday afternoon that ended in a crash on Interstate 20.

Vicksburg Police officers attempted to stop Childress on Interstate 20 East near Indiana Avenue. Childress failed to stop and continued eastbound at a high rate of speed, initiating a pursuit.

The pursuit continued into Warren County, where Childress lost control of the vehicle near the weigh station. The vehicle overturned multiple times before coming to a stop.

Officers removed Childress from the vehicle, and he was transported for medical treatment. Upon his release, he will be charged with felony fleeing in connection with the pursuit.

No further information will be released at this time.
