Flashes defeated Manchester Academy 49-14
St. Aloysius secured its first win of the season with a 49-14 victory over Manchester Academy, highlighted by quarterback Grant Gattle’s five touchdowns. The Flashes scored all their points in the first half, dominating the game throughout.

St. Aloysius picked up its first win of the season Friday with a dominant 49-14 victory over Manchester Academy as quarterback Grant Gattle accounted for five touchdowns.
Gattle threw two touchdown passes and rushed for three more as the Flashes earned their first victory under head coach John Baker.
“All glory goes to God and it’s his purpose that we’re here,” Gattle said. “The offensive line did amazing and the defense held on all game.”
St. Aloysius scored all 49 of its points in the first half, building a large enough lead to force a running clock in the second half. Louis Amborn was perfect on extra points, going 7-for-7.
Gattle opened the scoring with a 30-yard touchdown run before Keller Bradley broke loose for a 75-yard touchdown run.
Gattle then connected with Walt Andrews for a 35-yard touchdown pass before the end of the first quarter. Manchester Academy also found the end zone, leaving the Flashes with a 21-8 lead.
Manchester Academy scored again at the start of the second quarter to cut St. Aloysius’ lead to 21-14, but the Flashes responded with 28 unanswered points before halftime.
Gattle broke free for a 70-yard touchdown run to extend the lead. Cam Meyer then blocked a punt, and Ace Oglesby recovered it and returned it for a touchdown to make it 35-14.
Late in the second quarter, Gattle connected with Andrews for a 50-yard touchdown pass. Gattle added his third rushing score on a 5-yard touchdown run to help send St. Aloysius into halftime with a 49-14 advantage.
The Flashes’ defense kept Manchester Academy off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game.
Defensively, Andrews finished with eight tackles, while John Robert Reeder also recorded eight tackles. Bradley had seven tackles and two pass deflections.
Meyer finished with six tackles to go along with his blocked punt. Max Hargrave and Noah Ponder each added six tackles.
