Mayfield announces Seniors with Seniors event

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Ward 1 Alderman Thomas “TJ” Mayfield, in partnership with the City of Vicksburg Youth Services, will host the Seniors with Seniors Picnic on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vicksburg City Pavilion, located at 100 Army Navy Drive in Vicksburg, Miss.
The event is designed to bring senior citizens and high school seniors together for an afternoon of fellowship, food, and fun. Through this initiative, Mayfield hopes to create opportunities for older adults to build meaningful relationships and enjoy a welcoming environment that celebrates the importance of community with students who will soon be completing high school.
Alderman Mayfield emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for seniors to remain socially active and connected while also hoping this creates an impromptu mentorship program between generations.
“Our senior citizens are an important part of the foundation of our community, and we will continue to create opportunities for them to fellowship,” said Alderman Mayfield. “There is a clear generational divide and we hope that both age groups will learn something from the other with this picnic.”
