VICKSBURG, MS. – The AKA Mu Xi Omega Chapter created the Ivy Harvest Community Garden as their 2024 “Enhance Our Environment” initiative. So far, the sorority has fed 24 families as they have volunteered their time growing okra, tomatoes, cucumbers, three types of watermelon, Lima beans, bell peppers, squash, banana peppers, and many more vegetables.

The AKAs started growing vegetables in early April where some community members volunteered their time to help while the city of Vicksburg allowed them to utilize that land. The reciprocates from the community garden received everything at no cost as they hope the community appreciates the hard work they put into this project.

Last year, the AKAs celebrated Arbor Day by planting trees at local schools, along with a food drive.
