Bail denied for Mississippi man accused of killing his mother and girlfriend

Bail has been denied for a Mississippi man who has been charged with killing his own mother and girlfriend.

Over the weekend, Winston County Justice Court Judge Beck denied bail for Carlos Daniels who has been charged with two counts of First Degree Murder.

Thursday, July 11, 2024, at approximately 6:12 a.m., the Winston County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call from a concerned citizen who resides on Zion Ridge Road about finding bloody clothing and bed sheets inside their garbage can. Deputies arrived on scene and took possession of the items, which Investigators began processing as evidence.

At approximately 4:47 pm, the Winston County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call about a welfare check at the residence of 2920 Zion Ridge Road. Once deputies arrived at the residence, the doors were locked, causing deputies to gain entry through the window. Once inside the residence, 2 deceased bodies were discovered. Deputies immediately secured the scene and contacted the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations Crime Scene Unit, to come process the scene.

During the meantime, Investigators began interviewing family and friends. These interviews led Investigators to determine Carlos Daniels was a person of interest. Investigators also got the vehicle description of Carlos Daniels’ vehicle and deputies began patrolling the county looking for the vehicle.
Carlos Daniels had been seen leaving the residence of the crime scene around 10:00 am the same day.
