Amyiah Montgomery and Kei’Mya Walton earn Alcorn State cheerleading honors
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Amyiah Montgomery and Kei’Mya Walton, both Vicksburg natives, received top honors from the Alcorn State University cheerleading team for the 2025-26 season.
Montgomery was named the recipient of the Most Improved Award. According to a team press release, the honor is presented to a student-athlete who demonstrates exceptional growth, dedication and perseverance throughout the season, along with a commitment to developing skills, embracing coaching and becoming a more confident performer.
Montgomery is a 2025 graduate of Warren Central High School, where she served as a cheerleading captain.
Walton was part of the group recognized as the team’s Best Tumblers. She earned the distinction alongside James Goodwin, Kendall Fleming, Jaden Pierre and fellow Vicksburg native Ka’dajai Allen.
According to the release, the Best Tumblers Award recognizes student-athletes who exhibit exceptional athleticism, precision, strength and consistency in their tumbling, while showcasing advanced skills with confidence and elevating team performances.
Walton is a 2024 graduate of Vicksburg High School, where she was a team captain.
