At around 1 p.m., a fire broke out at a property located on First North Street near Clay in Vicksburg.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but it is known the fire started in the back of the home near the electric meter. An early report said the power line was on the ground.

The homeowner was able to evacuate the premises along with some of their animals. However, due to the fire, there was a concern that some of the animals had been trapped inside. Vicksburg Fire Department Chief Derrick Stamps later confirmed that all the animals survived, and there were no reported injuries.

The Vicksburg Daily News filed this live report:

Numerous units from the Vicksburg Fire Department, including Rescue, Engine 2, Engine 6, Platform 1, Engine 7, Battalion 1, Associate Fire Chief Trey Martin, and a fire medic unit, were at the scene to control the fire. Fire Boss Jerry Briggs was also present and helped contain the fire. Cedric Martin and Hayden McDougal from Warren County Fire Service were also present, along with two other Warren County firefighters. City and county fire departments frequently collaborate to ensure the community’s safety.

Chief Stamps said, “The VFD would like to thank Fire Coordinator Jerry Briggs and the Warren County Fire Department for their assistance with the fire on 1st North. We appreciate their service and dedication to assist whenever called upon.”

The Warren County Fire Service is a team of dedicated volunteers who generously offer their time to assist their fellow community members.
