The move will allow contractors to submit term bids on fixing potholes and other street issues within the City of Vicksburg. This will allow the Board to have assistance with fixing the current street issues in addition to the city’s own street department.

Vicksburg Mayor Willis Thompson said he thinks the assistance will be a good thing.

“I think it will allow us to address some of the problems in the streets a little faster to get some help from some commercial contractors who will go out and look at some areas that we identify so we can address them in a timely manner. We need the help doing it and this is a way we can get it done a lot faster,” said Mayor Thompson.

Both Ward 1 Alderman Thomas ‘TJ’ Mayfield and Ward 2 Alderwoman Vickie Bailey emphatically approved the motion after Mayor Thompson opened the motion for votes.

The complete bid packet may be picked up at the City of Vicksburg City Clerk’s Office located at 1401 Walnut Street. All bids must be submitted by 9 a.m. on Monday, August 3.
