Candlelight Vigil Announced for Natchez Teen killed in Saturday’s Storm
Natchez, Miss.-A candlelight vigil has been announced for a teenager who was killed on Saturday after a tree fell on her home in Natchez. Ty’Keria Rogers was a senior and Cheer Captain at Natchez High at the time of her death. She was 18-years-old.
The candlelight will be held at Natchez High School on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
The incident happened on Westwood Road in Natchez. According to multiple reports, two other individuals were also inside the but made it out safely. First Responders arrived at the scene around 6 p.m. to clear branches and helped entrapped individuals but Rogers succumbed to her injuries.
A gofundme has been created to help the family during this difficult time.
The Natchez Adams School District also released a statement.
“Ty’Keria was a bright light in our school and community, known for her talent, energy, and uplifting spirit. Her passing leaves a deep void in our hearts. The Natchez-Adams School District extends its heartfelt condolences to Ty’Keria’s family, friends, and loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time. We are committed to supporting our students and staff as we grieve this loss together. Grief counselors will be available on campus to provide comfort and assistance to those who need it. We ask the community to keep Ty’Keria’s family and all those impacted by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers. Details about a vigil and ways to honor her memory will be shared soon. Ty’Keria will forever be remembered as a symbol of strength, joy, and kindness. She will truly be missed.”
