VICKSBURG, Miss. — It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Preston Harper, of Vicksburg, MS, affectionately known as “Country,” on March 20, 2025, at Merit Health River Region in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Born on January 13, 1971, in Memphis, Tennessee, Charlie lived a life full of adventure and unwavering love for his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Laverne Harper; mother, Virginia Denise Green; grandparents, William Larry Reynolds and Merlie Ruth Reynolds; uncle, Stephen Craig Harper; and his beloved Labrador retriever, “Monster.”

Charlie is survived by his cherished wife, Michelle King; his deeply loved children, Gary F. Boylan (Chelsea), Ashley Boylan, Haley D. Jones, Kristin B. Phillips (Dustin), Charles B. King; his sister, Samantha Nicole Preslar; and his grandchildren, Gary Jr., Brooklynn, Lacey, Olivia, Kayden, and Ryder. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Charlie worked in construction all his life and owned and operated his company, Country’s Do-it-all Services, before later transitioning to auto delivery for Cannon Motors of Vicksburg. A true thrill-seeker, he embraced life’s adventures with enthusiasm and courage, always “putting the pedal to the metal” whenever possible. He loved hunting and fishing and spent most of his days outdoors.

Charlie will be remembered as a man of boundless love and the best pawpaw ever. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

A celebration of life service will be held on April 5, 2025, at New Garden Baptist Church located at 4831 Sycamore Rd, Coldwater, MS 38618. Celebration will begin at 12 noon.
