City orders feasibility study for waterpark

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — After years of requests from local citizens, the City of Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen have agreed to have a feasibility study done for the placement of a waterpark at Key City Park.
At the BOMA meeting held Monday, June 15, Mayor Willis Thompson commented on the need for the study.
“I do think it’s needed to see if its sustainable for the City of Vicksburg,” said Mayor Thompson.
The study will be conducted by Hotel & Leisure Advisors. According to the proposal, the company will assess the market feasibility of the proposed outdoor waterpark development in Vicksburg on a 200-acre site near an existing youth sports facility. It is our understanding that the estimate of feasibility will be used for decision-making purposes in determining whether to develop the waterpark.
The cost of the assessments will be $25,000 for the Market Feasibility and Financial Analysis Study, $5,000 for the Survey Monkey Demand Study and $10,000 for the Economic Impact Study. All totaling $40,000 to determine if Vicksburg can realistically sustain a waterpark at Key City Park.
