A convicted sex offender is behind bars after leading Warren County Sheriff Deputies on a chase on Monday.

Around 10:33 p.m., Deputy Whitley spotted 44-year-old Marvin Dwayne Reed drinking liquor from a bottle while driving an ATV near I-20. Reed failed to stop which caused a pursuit of by the WCSO and the Vicksburg Police Department. The chase went on through the Hamilton Heights area and VPD eventually terminated their pursuit as Reed made his way into the county.

By the time Reed made his way to Lee Circle, he jumped off the ATV which led to Deputies Whitley, Dustin Keyes, and Joseph Stubbs chasing and apprehending him a short time later.

During the chase, Deputy Stubbs’ patrol car was hit twice by Reed. Reed has been charged with Felony Fleeing, DUI, and two counts of Hit and Run along with a host of traffic violations. Upon his arrest, it was discovered that Reed was a sex offender in Hinds County but he gave a Warren County address which caused him to also be charged with failing to reregister as a sex offender.

In another case, an 18-year-old male was riding a motorbike on Monday night when he felt something hit him. It was soon discovered that he had bullet fragments in his shoulder and chest. It’s not clear if he was an intended target or someone recklessly discharging a firearm. He was treated and released at a hospital.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Warren County Sheriff’s Office at 601-636-1761.
