Coopwood Elected Chairman of Mississippi Wildlife Commission
JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) proudly announces that Commissioner Scott Coopwood of Cleveland, Mississippi, has been elected as the Chairman of the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.
Scott Coopwood is a graduate of the University of Mississippi. Coopwood owns Coopwood Publishing Group, which includes several publications such as the Mississippi Business Journal, Delta Business Journal, Delta Magazine, Delta Ag Journal, and The Bolivar Bullet. He represents District II and is now serving his second five-year term as Commissioner. This is also his second term as Chairman of the Commission.
“I am honored to serve as Chairman of the Commission alongside my fellow Commissioners as we work to meet the outdoor and conservation needs of our great state,” said Chairman Coopwood. “Mississippi offers incredible outdoor opportunities. We take the responsibility of managing our state’s resources very seriously. I look forward to continuing my work with the dedicated men and women of MDWFP to shape the future of outdoor recreation in Mississippi.”
MDWFP Executive Director Lynn Posey expressed support for Coopwood. “Chairman Coopwood has served Mississippi’s outdoor public well during his time as Commissioner. We look forward to continuing our work with him in his role as Chairman,” said Posey.
Also, District 3 Commissioner Gary Rhoads of Pearl, Mississippi, will serve as Vice-Chairman.
The Governor appoints the five commissioners. They serve five-year terms with the advice and consent of the Senate.
