Dancing vampires and free popcorn: Strand to screen ‘Sinners’ Saturday Aug 2
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The latest film from director Ryan Coogler, Sinners, is coming to Vicksburg’s Strand Theatre for a one-night screening Saturday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m.
Set in the Mississippi Delta during the 1930s, Sinners stars Michael B. Jordan as one of two twin brothers returning to their hometown to start over—only to discover something darker awaiting them.
The film blends blues, horror and historical drama in what New York Times critic Manohla Dargis called “a passionate, effusive praise song about life and love, including the love of movies.” Dargis praised Sinners as a “genre-defying, mind-bending fantasia” filled with strong performances, juke joint blues, and unexpected twists—including dancing vampires.
The film is rared R.
Advance tickets are $9 at Highway 61 Coffeehouse. Tickets at the door will be $10. Popcorn is free.
