‘Summertime in the River City’ Returns to Vicksburg Stage July 27

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — “Summertime in the River City,” a musical tribute to the legacy of Black performers in American theater, returns to The Strand Theatre for an encore performance on Sunday, July 27 at 5 p.m.

Originally staged in 2023, the docu-musical highlights Black musicals from the Golden Age of American theatre, with special recognition of artists who trace their roots to Vicksburg.

The performance will feature vocalists backed by the Element of Art band, along with narration and commentary to explore the cultural impact of these historic works.
