Earnest Carl Jackson 1954-2024
Graveside Service will be held for Ernest Carl Jackson, on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at C J Williams Mortuary Center 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, MS from 4-6 PM with family present from 5-6 PM.
Ernest Carl Jackson was born on December 29, 1954, the third child of Johnnie and Frances Jackson, Jr. He was the grandson of Johnnie and Leola Jackson, Sr., and James and Alberta Cain.
Ernest attended Temple High School. After high school, he joined the United States Army. Ernest had various jobs including working for the Corps of Engineers (Matt Sinking Unit) of Vicksburg. Civil service at Mare Island Naval Base (Vallejo, California), truck driver, Winter Haven (Florida) until he returned back to Vicksburg. Ernest was employed by the Warren County Department of Transportation for 9 years working beside his friend, Jerry Jackson, until the Lord called him home.
Ernest was a member of Morning Star Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was a firm believer and a gifted Bible teacher of present truth. He loved giving Bible study to anyone who would want to hear a word from the Lord. Ernest loved studying the word of God. He enjoyed walking and exercising. He also loved to garden and would always share the fruits of his labor. He was a health advocate and read every label and ingredient on food products. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Frances Jackson, Jr.; grandparents, Johnnie and Leola Jackson, Sr., and James and Alberta Cain; two sisters, Joyce Haskett and Cynthia Jackson; three brothers, infant brother, Johnnie Jackson III, Robert Jackson, and Donald Jackson. Ernest Leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Ernest Gabriel Jackson, (Rolling Fork, MS); six sisters, Jennie Robinson, Linda Jackson, Tangie Bailey (Ronnie) of Vicksburg. Rose Cosey (Indianapolis, Indiana) Angela Jackson (Spring, Texas) and Betty Shelton (Dallas, Texas); four brothers, George Jackson, William Jackson of Vicksburg, Earl (Rena) Jackson (Indianapolis, Indiana,) and Charles Jackson (Tampa, Florida); two aunts, Lodis (Bell) Smith and Ethel Jackson of
Vicksburg; one uncle, Leonard Jackson of Vicksburg; a host of nieces, nephews, friends; the Morning Star Church family, Judy Tupolo Jackson, Melvin Smith, Melvin Wallace, Norman and Lynnett Archer; and his childhood friends, Henry Banks, Willie Reed, Earl Liggins, Terry Wash, Charles Price, Thomas T. Washington, Michael Dottery, Warren County road department crew; and other relatives, including the Shelton, Carpenter, Huell, Dottorey and Anderson Family.
Ernest Carl Jackson transitioned on January 19, 2024, at the age of 69. Services were provided by C J Williams Mortuary Services.
