Emma Crisler, longtime Port Gibson Reveille editor, dies at 86

PORT GIBSON, Miss. (VDN) — Emma Crisler, longtime editor and publisher of the Port Gibson Reveille, died Friday. She was 86.
A former English teacher, Crisler assumed leadership of the Reveille in 1998 following the death of her husband, Ed Crisler. The newspaper, which dates back to 1898, was originally founded by Ed Crisler’s grandfather.
Crisler was known for her sharp coverage of Claiborne County politics and her dedication to local journalism.
She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Crisler-Ruskey; her granddaughter, Emma Crisler-Ruskey; and her sister, Panny Mayfield. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Flautt.
