Family of I-20 Crash Victim Need Your Help

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The family of a woman critically injured in a crash on Interstate 20 on Saturday has launched a GoFundMe to help cover medical expenses and support her 3-year-old daughter.
Just after 8:15 p.m. Saturday, a red sedan with Hinds County plates veered off I-20 East near the Highway 61 exit, struck a tree, and spun into the median between the eastbound and westbound lanes, said Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps. The driver, the only occupant, was unresponsive and trapped inside the vehicle due to the impact.
First responders used the Jaws of Life to remove the driver, identified by her sister, Daleshia Washington, as Qisreal “Quizzy” Buchanan, before she was airlifted to a trauma hospital in critical condition.
According to the GoFundMe page set up by her family, Buchanan remains in a medically induced coma with brain bleeding, a broken tibia and femur, fractured ankles, a dislocated hip, and bruised lungs. She also suffered a stroke due to the brain injury.
“She’s able to tolerate the surgeries and able to maintain her vital signs,” said Washington in an update this morning. “She’s making progress when stimulated. Qisreal is fighting, and we’re fighting with her.”
The family is seeking donations to help with medical expenses not covered by insurance and to provide for her 3-year-old daughter during her recovery.
“If you are able, please help support Qisreal and her family during these unimaginable times,” the GoFundMe states. “Anything helps, whether it is praying for the family or sharing this fundraiser.”
