Flashes claim their first district title since 2014
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN)—The St. Aloysius baseball team reached a huge milestone on Friday night when they claimed their first district title in over a decade(2014). The Flashes took down Cathedral in a doubleheader to achieve the long-awaited goal.
In game one, St. Al run-ruled the Green Waves 11-1 as they collected a total of six hits. The Flashes scored four runs in the first inning, three in the fourth, and four in the fifth.
Keller Bradley led the Flashes at the plate as he went 3 for 4 with one RBI. William Roberson hit a double while Walt Andrews(2 RBIs) and Clark Hobson(2 RBIs) each had one hit. Laken Bradley and Carson Smith both hit an RBI.
Keller Bradley only allowed one hit and one run while striking out seven batters.
Game two was where the Flashes made it all official as the district champions. They quickly made a comeback to defeat Cathedral 14-9.
The start of game two went a little different as Cathedral scored six runs to take the lead. St. Al responded with three runs of their own after Smith, Evan Mallard, and Sadler Lambiotte all had RBIs.
Twelve hits and 11 runs later, the Flashes improved to 15-10 on the year and 6-3 in the district under Head Coach Jay Harper. Smith, Keller, and Laken all hit doubles in the win.
Smith(4 RBIs), Hobson(3 RBIs), Keller(2 RBIs), Laken, and Andrews(1 RBI) all had two hits. Pierson and Roberson both had one hit while Lambiotte and Mallard each hit an RBI.
Laken struck out three batters while Andrews and Smith struck out one.
