Flashes put away Jackson Victors 73-50
Vicksburg, Miss.-St. Aloysius boys’ basketball team finished Tuesday night victorious as they took down Jackson Victors 73-50. Carson Gleese and Anthony McCloud took over the game by collecting 25 and 24 points.
“Tonight was a good warm-up for district play next week and we have another good team on Monday so we’re looking to go into district with a 10-8 record,” Head Coach Walter Hallberg said.
The Flashes went up 17-11 in the first quarter as Gleese found the basket on multiple occasions while McCloud hit a quick 3-pointer. By halftime, St. Al had a 34-24 lead as Carter Henderson stepped up and scored eight points right before the end of the first half.
After halftime, the Flashes took a nice lead after scoring 22 points in the third quarter which was mostly a mixture of Gleese and McCloud. By the time the final quarter rolled around, McCloud took over by nailing another 3-pointer and dominating inside the paint.
“We knew we had to step our game up today and we played more as a team,” McCloud said.
Gleese finished the night as the main contributor with 25 points as St. Al improved to 9-8 on the year.
“I feel like we played as a team and executed perfectly while sharing the ball well,” Gleese said.
