Get Out the Vote Rally to be held Saturday Morning

VICKSBURG, MS. – A Get Out the Vote Rally takes place tomorrow morning, September 7, at 10 a.m. at the Kings Empowerment Center, 224 R.L. Chase Circle. Attendees will be able to register to vote if they have not done so. Also available will be a booth for those with felony convictions to have their voting rights restored/register. Please bring your driver’s license or id card to register to vote.

“It’s your right… it’s your responsibility… it’s your future,” said Pastor Dexter Jones.

Entertainment for the event will feature Comedian Jessie McDonald, DJ Country Que, and the Pink Panthers dance squad. The organizers have invited local elected officials to bring words of welcome.

The Get Out the Vote Rally is a coordinated collaboration of  the Mu Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,  Inc., Vicksburg Branch of NAACP, Triumphant Baptist Church, Medgar and Angela Scott Foundation and the Omicron Rho Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity,  Inc. 

“This will be one of many exciting and entertaining rallies geared to register potential voters and encourage voters to vote. It is imperative for citizens to partake in democracy by voting . We hope to be the catalyst for voter engagement by hosting this rally,” said Kim Nailor, one of the coordinator’s of this event.
