Gumbo cook-off james jug benefit

VICKSBURG, Miss. – A benefit for James E. “Jug” Jones, featuring a Gumbo Cook-Off, will be held this Saturday, November 9, at the Elks Lodge, 1366 US-61 in Vicksburg. The event will include a vendor market, gumbo tasting, live auction, poker run, and corn hole tournament. Proceeds will benefit James E. “Jug” Jones.

The day kicks off at 8 a.m. with a vendor’s market. To reserve a booth, vendors can contact Heather Whitehead at 601-218-7402.

The poker run will begin with registration at 9 a.m. and kickstands up at 9:30 a.m. The last bike in should arrive by 1:30 p.m. Entry is $20 per rider.

The gumbo cook-off is open to teams for a $100 entry fee. Tasting will start at 11:30 a.m. for $10 per person, with armbands available at the door.

A corn hole tournament will follow at noon, with a $10 entry fee per person. For more information, contact Emily Mattson at 601-618-1979.
