VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Local track and field standouts Amiyah Hall and Adria Burrell have been named First Team All-State selections by MileSplit Mississippi, highlighting another strong year for Vicksburg-area athletes.

Burrell, a recent Warren Central High School graduate and University of West Alabama signee, capped off her senior season by winning the Class 6A state championship in the 100-meter dash in May. She ends her high school career as one of the most decorated sprinters in program history, holding school records in the 100 meters (11.93), 200 meters (24.96), and 400 meters (58.5).

Hall, a rising junior at Vicksburg High School, earned First Team honors after winning the 200-meter dash at the state championships. She also finished as the runner-up in both the 100 meters and the 4×200 meter relay, helping lead VHS to a strong showing in the postseason.

In addition to Hall and Burrell, three other Warren Central athletes earned Second Team All-State recognition. Mere’ Smith earned her spot after a top-five finish in the 300-meter hurdles at the state meet. Madison Ward claimed third place in the long jump, and Arrionna Jenkins delivered a standout performance with a second-place finish in the shot put and third in the discus.

Warren Central’s program was guided by head coach Heather Casey, while Vicksburg High School’s athletes were coached by Deatra Cable. Their leadership helped propel local athletes to statewide recognition.
