St. Aloysius has named Walter Hallberg IV as their new head Girl’s Basketball Coach. He will continue coaching the IV and Varsity Boy’s Basketball teams.

The school confirmed the decision on Monday after former Head Coach KK Willis submitted her letter of resignation earlier in the month.

Coach KK Willis was with the program for one full season. “We appreciate Coach KK for her contributions to the program and we wish her nothing but the best as she transitions to coach at Jackson Prep” Saint Aloysius Athletic Director Allison McSherry said.

In his second season coaching the boys’ team, Hallberg led the Varsity Flashes with a 15-13 record and a run at the South State Tournament in Oak Forrest. “I love being at

St. Aloysius and look forward to being part of the girl’s basketball program,” Hallberg said.

“Coach Hallberg has been such an inspirational addition to our athletic staff. We are so excited to have the opportunity to expand his influence within our basketball program and as a role model for our athletes,” Dawn Meeks, St. Aloysius High School Principal.

Previously, Hallberg coached Porter’s Chapel Academy to a 22-14 season in 2022 and helped the Eagles advance to the state tournament. He was also selected as VDN’s 2021-2022 Boy’s Head Coach of the Year.
