Jackson Woman Killed When Vehicle Collides With Deer In Claiborne County
On Tuesday, January 2, at approximately 5:20 a.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a one-vehicle crash on US-61 South near Old Colony Rd. in Claiborne County.
According to MHP, a Chevrolet Cavalier driving southbound collided with a deer. After colliding with the Chevrolet, the deer collided with a northbound 2011 Nissan Maxima driven by 38-year-old Mansa Gray of Fayette, MS, entering through the windshield.
The drivers of both vehicles were not injured.
However, the passenger of the Nissan Maxima, 23-year-old Amanda Taylor of Jackson, was killed in the crash.
She was pronounced dead on the scene.
This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
