VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Local musician Julie Crouse has been memorialized in the newest mural on Grove Street, joining fellow Mississippi native William Michael Morgan.

The mural, designed and painted by artist Craig Thomas, depicts Vicksburg’s annual Fourth of July celebration held downtown in front of the Old Depot Museum.

Though Thomas originally aimed to complete the mural before this year’s celebration, weather and scheduling delays pushed the timeline — a fortunate turn for Crouse. The singer performed the national anthem at this year’s event, opened for Morgan, and joined him for a duet. As a result, she now appears in the mural alongside Morgan and reigning Miss Mississippi, Anna Leigh Jolly.

“I feel very honored to be depicted alongside William Michael Morgan and the band in one of our town’s beautiful murals,” Crouse said. “It’s a very special tribute to what was a truly magical and surreal experience for me. Very grateful!”

Crouse will perform at Brick Street Market on Saturday, Aug. 9, from noon to 3 p.m. She will also host Open Mic Night at Crossroads Country Store on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 7 to 10 p.m.
