HATTIESBURG, Miss.(USM Athletics) – The Southern Miss Department of Athletics recently announced the appointment of Leah Williams as Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing.
“I grew up with Southern Miss Athletics and am a proud two-time alumna, so I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to return and help lead the marketing efforts of the university that has been home to me for so long,” said Williams.
Williams, a two-time graduate of Southern Miss, returns to her Alma mater after spending the last three years at Kennesaw State. For the first two years she served as a Marketing Assistant, before being promoted to Assistant Director of Marketing and Fan Experience in June of 2023.
In her most recent role, Williams acted as in-game producer/show-caller for football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, volleyball, and baseball. Williams helped oversee the top two football attendances at KSU, one last season and the highest-ever attended game of 11,040 earlier this fall. She also helped supervise the best football student attendance for a game.
Her duties also included supporting the transition to the Eloqua email marketing system, creating segmented e-newsletters for all ticketed sports, while serving on branding committee for transition into Conference USA and the NCAA FBS Subdivision. Williams also helped with the transition to the SIDEARM mobile application and FanMaker Rewards system, and with the planning of the school’s baseball stadium renovation project.
Prior to her stint at KSU, Williams worked as a marketing manager in the private sector and served as an events assistant at the Alabama Sports Council in Birmingham.
While enrolled at Southern Miss, Williams worked as a graduate assistant in the Sports Management department as well as a sports marketing game day intern for most of her time on the Golden Eagle campus. During the summer of 2018, she also worked as a summer trainee for the Mississippi Braves.
Leah Williams earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Marketing in May of 2017 and her Master of Science in Sport Management in May of 2019, both from Southern Miss.
