Mardi Gras Gumbo Cookoff is a Winner

VICKSBURG, Miss -The Southern Cultural Heritage Center held a Gumbo Cookoff Saturday Night.

The big winner Saturday Night was the Vicksburg Foundation for Historic Preservation as the beneficiary of the money raised from the Gumbo Cookoff. Hundreds attended the event on Crawford between Cherry and Adams that featured live music and good food.

A friendly competition was held between area organizations and businesses that opened to the public at 5 p.m. Teams competed in categories including Best Seafood, Most Spirited Team and the coveted People’s Choice.

The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the diverse cultural heritage of Vicksburg, Mississippi, the Mississippi Delta, and the American South. The Foundation works to achieve its goals by creating and hosting cultural activities at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center

The Vicksburg Foundation for Historic Preservation is a non-profit formed in 1958 to identify, preserve, protect and interpret the historic built environment of Vicksburg and Warren County.

In a friendly competition between the City of Vicksburg and Warren County, Warren County took the win.
