As a child, he attended the largest African-American grammar school in the nation, Holy Angels School, in Chicago, IL. He attended one of only two all-African-American male high schools in the nation, Hales Franciscan, where he earned a diploma in 1981. During his youth and throughout his adult life, Mark was a member of several bands, including Phaze, Category One, Projekt, The Blues Dudes, and most notably the Little Richard Band. While playing with Little Richard’s band, Mark traveled the world, played in large arenas, and made appearances on the Tonight Show, David Letterman Show, and Jerry Lewis Telethon. He was also employed for several years with Vicksburg Video and Walnut Hills, and most recently could be found DJ’ing at the Upper End in Vicksburg on Thursday Nights.
While still in his young adult years, Mark would meet Mamie Harvey. Through their union, he would be blessed with the joy of fatherhood to two sons, Marcus and Mario.
