Mayfield defeats Hollingsworth in special election

Thomas “TJ” Mayfield has won the Ward One Alderman seat formally held by his father, the late Michael Mayfield after winning the special election held today, May 30, against Daryl Hollingsworth.

The unofficial vote was 839 to 297.

Mayfield will fill the unexpired term of his late father who died back in March. TJ will have a full year in his new position and must qualify to run again in the 2025 election if he chooses to go for another term.

Mayfield is a graduate of Warren Central High School and Alcorn State University. He went on to become an educator in the Vicksburg-Warren School District.
