Mississippi teacher arrested for inappropriately touching children

On May 23rd, Starkville police arrested Kelvin Stanfield (51, Okolona) for warrants issued by the Sixteenth Circuit Court of Mississippi. Four warrants were issued for Mississippi Code § 97-5-23, Touching, handling, etc., child, mentally defective or incapacitated person or physically helpless person, during a Thursday morning probable cause hearing in Lowndes County Circuit Court. Mississippi Code § 99-3-28 requires a probable cause hearing to be held before a warrant is issued for teachers accused of committing a crime while in the performance of their duties.
The incidents occurred at Starkville High School, and four victims have come forward to report incidents that took place between March and May of this year. The reports were received by our agency on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
