Vicksburg native Joshua Gaskin honored by the Ridgeland Police Department

Vicksburg native Corporal Joshua Gaskin was recognized as Officer of the Month for April 2024.

Cpl. Gaskin responded to a local business where a man was in the store and was having a psychotic episode. The man was disrobing and had pulled out a knife because he thought the other people in the business wanted to harm him. It was discovered that this man had schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and PTSD. Cpl Gaskin is trained in Crisis Intervention and was able to talk to the man and get him to calm down enough that he could be transported to the hospital for evaluation with no physical altercation.

Cpl. Gaskin’s patience and specialized training are a great asset to the Ridgeland Police Department.
