Missy Gators defeated Columbus 1-0
Vicksburg, Miss.-A penalty kick in the second half made Friday night special for the Vicksburg High School girls’ soccer team. The Missy Gators pulled off a 1-0 district win over Columbus as they now sit with a 9-4 record under Head Coach Maurice Gilliam.
Kennedy Mullins scored on the penalty kick which helped Vicksburg High win their third game in a row. Ava Pritchard also had four saves in the win. The victory marked the Missy Gators’ first win in district play this season as they are set to host crosstown rival Warren Central on Tuesday. That game will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the boys will play afterwards.
On Friday, the VHS boys fell short to Columbus 4-1. Arthur Davis grabbed eight saves in the game and Jarell Noye scored the Gators’ lone goal.
