Vicksburg High School girls’ soccer team ended Monday night with a 2-1 win over Loyd Star.

“Compared to last year we’re already doing a lot better and I’m proud of myself and the team but I want to thank the coaches because we wouldn’t be here without them,” Amari Johnson said.

Amari Johnson earned the first goal of the night as Trinity McGloster gained the assist. Shortly before halftime, Loyd Star tied the game at 1-1.

The Missy Gators got on the board once more in the second half when Kennedy Mullins kicked it to McGloster who booted it into the net. Ava Pritchard ended the night with five saves.

VHS will travel to Canton on Thursday.
